PKI
Public Key Infrastructure
A public key infrastructure (PKI) is a security architecture for the generation, management, and use of cryptographic keys and digital certificates.
Digital certificates, associated with people or devices (servers, routers, etc.), can be used for different purposes; electronic signature, authentication and data encryption. They represent the digital identity of the person or device when communicating through internet networks.
A digital certificate contains personal information and is digitally signed by the organization that issued it (Certification Authority).
PKI technology is widely recognized as the best choice for critical environments, as it guarantees the highest level of security. Its inviolability is demonstrated by the Number Theory and by the Chinese Remainder Theorem. A vast community of experts and standardization organizations often analyze the security of the algorithms and protocols used.
